​SPX  Enrolment Policy

St Pius X School is part of a large system of Catholic Parish schools of the Archdiocese of Brisbane and is administered under Brisbane Catholic Education.

The development of this policy has been in accordance with, Brisbane Catholic Education Administration Guidelines on the Enrolment of Students and Enrolment of Students: The Religious Dimension. The school has also taken into account the mission and purpose of a Parish Catholic School as well as the school's current facilities, resources and staffing.

In considering an application for enrolment, St Pius X Primary School will take into consideration the needs of the child, the school's capacity to meet the child's needs and the contribution the child and parents are likely to make to the school community.

St Pius X School gives priority of enrolment to the education needs of Catholic families who reside in the Salisbury Parish. Students from other Christian traditions, whose parents value the Catholic ethos, are welcome to apply for enrolment. The school will give consideration for the child's readiness for school and any application that may require additional adjustments. 

Rationale:  This Enrolment Policy provides direction and assistance to St Pius X School so that the school can formulate just and equitable enrolment procedures.

 Process:

1.      Application   |      Completion of online application including:

    1. Payment of non-refundable $50 application Fee
    2. Provision of birth certificate, Baptismal certificate, Parent/Student Visa
    3. If noted in your application:  Legal Documentation, Medical Action Plan and Student Specialist Assessments 

2.     Interview   |   School will arrange an interview with the Principal or Assistant Principal Religious Education at a . 

3.      Enrolment Offer   |   Decision regarding the offer of enrolment is at the Principal's discretion and is based on the number of vacancies, needs of the students and exceptional circumstances.

Where demand for enrolment places exceed capacity, the priority order for enrolment is as follows:​

    1. Children of families who have siblings currently enrolled at St Pius X
    2. Catholic children who are members of the Parish Community
    3. Catholic children of families living outside the Parish
    4. Children whose family's faith and commitment support the Catholic ethos and who express a willingness to support the school and its policies.
    5. Further applications will be considered on their merits

 Children with Additional Needs:

Applications for enrolment of children with additional needs will follow procedures outlined in the Brisbane Catholic Education “Policy on Enrolment, Application and Support Procedures for students requiring educational adjustments".  Children with additional  needs will be considered in accordance with the above policy and the priority of enrolment as stated above. A decision on the application for enrolment will be made in accordance with the Policy of Enrolment, Application and Support Procedures for students requiring educational adjustments and the capacity of the community's ability to provide them with a quality Catholic education. ​

4.      Enrolment Acceptance

    1. Completion of Enrolment Confirmation Form :  The original confirmation of enrolment forms  must be submitted to the office.
    2. Payment of non-refundable  Enrolment confirmation fee of $100
